Cargolux, the biggest all-cargo airline in Europe, is based in Luxembourg. It offers service to more than 90 locations around the world and operates a fleet of over 20 aircraft. Cargolux has observed a significant increase in demand for this kind of transport over the past year. Cargolux started developing a five-year business plan in February 2013. This strategy included two hubs, which will connect to the global "Air Silk Road."


In 1982, Cargolux started Air Cargo China to Luxembourg and vice versa. A little Canadair CL-44 freighter served as the company's first aircraft. After a while, Cargolux started to broaden its network of locations. In 1984, it had ten aircraft in its fleet, up from three in 1982. Then, in 1998, Cargolux bought five more 747-400F aircraft.


Cargolux has assisted in the transportation of priceless historical artifacts and other culturally sensitive items from China. A brand-new cargo flight from Zhengzhou to Luxembourg was introduced by Cargolux in June 2014. Twice a week, the flight will depart from Zhengzhou. It will also make stops in Shenzhen, Bangkok, and Budapest. Cargolux intends to extend its route map to include additional Asian cities in the future.
